Beer Festival raises £17,000 for Carers

cheshire-hospiceThe 15th Macclesfield Beer Festival took place on the 8th and 9th May and was a resounding success. During the weekend of the Festival the event attracted more than 3000 visitors to the Big Marquee. Those who attended were in fine form and sampled the range of over 100 speciality beers on offer with enthusiasm. More than 11,000 pints of beer were consumed and sales of wine and unusual ciders were at a record high.

Visitors danced the night away to the tunes of local bands Dazed and Confused and The Screaming Beavers who added to the general air of festivity.

This year the Beer Festival was raising funds for Crossroads Caring for Carers, a local charity which provides a wide range of support services for carers of all ages, including young carers. Crossroads is about giving carers some time to themselves away from their caring responsibilities with the peace of mind that the person they care for is being well looked after.

If you look after someone, or know someone who does, you can find out about the support on offer at www.crossroadsce.org.uk or you can contact the office on 01260 292850.

A huge thank you goes to Macclesfield Round Table, Mickey Jones and all the organisers of this fantastic community event. Also to Trevor Gammage and CAMRA and all the event sponsors, in particular Storm Brewing Co and Alderley Asset Management.

Cheshire East Crossroads Caring for Carers

cross-roads-careCheshire East Crossroads Caring for Carers (CEC) is a registered charity which delivers high quality support services for carers and those they care for throughout the Cheshire East area.

‘giving carers time to be themselves’

A Crossroads service is about giving time and support – improving the lives of carers by giving them a meaningful break from their caring responsibilities. We aim to provide a reliable service tailored for each individual carer and the person they look after. We provide practical support where and when it is needed the most. Carers then have time use as they wish – to see friends, keep appointments, read or just have a well earned rest.

Our services are available to carers of all ages who care for people with any disability or long term illness and include:

  • Carer Breaks
  • Crossroads Macmillan Palliative Care Service
  • Young Carers project
  • Take a Break support groups for older people and those with a physical disability
  • CAMEO support groups for those in the early stages of dementia
  • Carers Emergency Response Service (CERS)
  • Supporting Carers in Employment (SeCurE)
  • Aspergers social skills groups for adults and children
  • Support group for carers

CEC has recently celebrated 18 years of successful service delivery and supports a growing number of carers and the people they look after.
